What is the best part of housing Southwestern Company students?
They were positive role models for our children.

The growth and real world experience that each one of the students achieve as a result of being a part in the summer program. This is a fundamental step towards these students becoming productive and positive members of our society.

The "can-do" attitude and strong work ethic these students have is refreshing and is an excellent example for younger host-family members. One of the most enjoyable aspects of hosting these students is learning about their country and their culture and family (we've hosted Estonians and South Africans).

We just loved our girls; they enriched our lives and made us family. We allowed the girls to have Sunday meetings here twice and all the young people were polite, fun, thoughtful, and just great to meet.

Expanded world view. The students were no trouble and very nice. They were well disciplined.

Just getting to know the kids. They've all been great. I'm glad I've been able to help them out.

We have had great experiences and continue to keep in contact with all the booksellers we have met over the years. We are actually going to visit them in Estonia next spring! We are thrilled to have had the opportunities to host these great kids!

The kids are all really hardworking and hardly interfere with our daily lives. We had a great time in the evenings and on Sunday sharing fun stories. The money they paid us was used for making awesome meals for them. We know it was something we didn't have to do, but we wanted to. All 3 groups of students have been very different, but all really unique fun summers.

We have met many members of the Southwestern Company over the last 4 years and are impressed with the abilities and ambition of most of these young people. They are a top notch group of people. We also want to thank the Southwestern organization for the training and experience that you provide them. I have been a manager at Caterpillar for many years and see great potential in your managers that I don't see in most of the kids their same age coming to work for us. I believe it is their Southwestern experience that sets them apart from the rest. Too bad more of them don't come back to the States to work after graduation!! Thanks for providing these kids with your leadership!

From a Southwestern Company Student's Perspective...
Every Sunday evening we had our traditional dinner, which was the best part of the week because for that time my three roommates and I felt that like a family. Mrs. H. always gave little positive cards and cookies to keep our attitude up all week. Those little things escalated to making a big difference in our summer performance.

She not only took the role of a great host mom, but the role of a second mother to me, an emotional connection for life. She went above and beyond what we really needed.

…. the summer a fun and enjoyable experience …. The C.’s are the best host family because of their unconditional belief and encouragement they gave us throughout the summer. I can't count the times that Grammy Jane's smile and hug or Papa Larry's grin and stories changed our sometimes challenging days.
